My name is Michele Thompson and I will be the new mental health professional at Coyote Creek, Clear Sky and Highlands Ranch High School. I will be providing the social/emotional skills development consultation to assist your child in meeting their IEP goals. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share a bit about me in preparation for the new school year.
Personally, I live in the Castle Rock area with my husband. Our daughter graduated from UCLA in June of 2024 and will be working for Warner Bros Studios. We are so incredibly proud of her and all of her accomplishments! As a family, we are avid outdoor enthusiasts and spend our time hiking and camping, rafting and paddle boarding. We have two pets, a dog named Bella and a cat named Evie. I enjoy yoga and meditation, reading and cooking (when time permits).
Professionally, I am so excited to be a part of CCE and have heard AMAZING things about the school staff and community! I have been a School Social Worker for 20 years and have been practicing in the Field of Social Work for 25! I have worked at all grade levels from elementary, middle to high school. I hope my experiences will bring both a breadth and a depth of knowledge that will span a child's developmental trajectory from K-12. I will be working closely with students and families, along with the Special Education Team and all CCE staff, to assist students in learning the social/emotional skills they need to advocate and learn, make and sustain friends, and manage their emotions in healthy and age-appropriate ways. In my role, I will be providing direct interventions to students 1:1 and/or in small groups to support their needs. I also assist in conducting various mental health assessments, as well as crisis support and consultation on behavior and mental health issues.
